on Sept. 13 dedicated the newly completed plaza at the courthouse
lawn.

The memorial features engraved bricks, paid for by individual
contributors, and new flagpoles, plus the unveiling of a
newly created Trimble County flag, designed by Betty Johnson.
The morning ceremony took place as a kickoff event to the
Trimble County Apple Festival, Sept. 13-14. More than 200
people attended the ceremony, which included speeches by
local dignitaries, one of which was Roger Newell, former
district governor of Rotary Club International based in
Louisville.

At the time of the ceremony, 450 bricks had been sold, with
many more spaces available. So far, the names of 35 county
veterans are engraved. The project took three years to complete
and many volunteers hours and labor by local businesses
and individuals.
