SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (June 2008) – Shelby County resident Laura Noe often displays her artwork with her best friend, her father, Louis. While both are fond of painting landscapes and wildlife scenes, Laura has branched out into the medium of paper mosaics.

Shelbyville artist Laura Noe poses
with her father, Louis, at the Madison
Art Club show in October 2007,
where she exhibited her paper
mosaic titled, “Irises.”

Noe debuted her technique at last year’s Kentucky State Fair. Her work is displayed at the Madison Art Club Gallery in Madison, Ind., and at the Sixth and Main Coffeehouse and Bistro 535 in Shelbyville, Ky.
The Noes paint in several different types of mediums: oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels. Originally from Louisville, Laura lives in Shelby County, where she will share a booth with her father at the upcoming “Celebrating Life Through Art.” This is a juried fine arts and crafts fair held on the grounds of the Masonic Home of Shelbyville from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on June 7.
Located at 711 Frankfort Road (US 60) in Shelbyville, the Masonic Home provides the perfect backdrop for a day of artistic celebration. Organizer Donna Williams said this is a way to “step out of the normal art fairs. At ‘Celebrating Life Through Art,’ you will have the opportunity of meeting some of the best artists in Shelby County and across the state of Kentucky.”
Williams herself is a master broommaker and juried member of Kentucky Crafted.
This event is a joint community venture between the Masonic Home of Shelbyville and ARTractions! The Cultural Arts Guild of Shelby County. Noe is president of ARTractions!, a three-year old art guild. The group promotes all genres of visual arts in the community, including music and theatre.
Other participating artists include:
Stephanie Allison, Wit’s End Studio along with Betty Duvall, Debbie Hembree, Patty Ivey of Creative Sparks by Patty, Kay Lockwood and Tana Peers, KaZart Studio of Shelbyville, all members of ARTractions! Cultural Arts Guild of Shelby County;
