(March 02)
Madison, Ind. - The long-awaited release of the movie Madison may be coming to theaters soon.
Director and co-writer Bill Bindley says an announcement is expected any time about a national distribution of the film perhaps as early as Aug. 23. The filmmakers and distributors are hoping that actor Jim Caviezels lead role in the recently released The Count of Monte Cristo will help the success of the Madison film.
Nothing is official yet, but we hope to hear about an announcement very soon, said Bindley, an Indianapolis native who lives in California.
Both Bill and his brother, Scott Bindley, the films co-author, have been invited to speak at the April 26 Regional Business Expo breakfast at Clifty Inn in Madison as part of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerces second annual event. Bindley said that Scott will likely be available, but he is still uncertain if he will be able to participate.
Several actors also have been invited to appear at the Expo.
he major actors, such as Caviezel and Jake Lloyd, who played young Michael McCormick, son of legendary Miss Madison hydroplane driver Jim McCormick. Caviezel plays the late Jim McCormick in the film.
Other actors who may receive invitations include Paul Dooley, Chelcie Ross and Frank Knapp.
If the movie is indeed announced for release, Madison Regatta Inc. board president Tony Steinhardt said plans are under way to hold a special premiere of the film in Madison prior to the national release. One idea is to hold the premiere on the Madison riverbank, using a large movie screen on a floating ramp or barge. Another suggestion is to hold the premiere at the Ohio Theatre on Main Street.
Ive not been involved with the movie too much, but I would certainly like to see the movie premiered at the Ohio Theatre here in Madison, said Mayor Al Huntington. I just hope it comes out soon. From what I hear, it is a flattering depiction of our town, and I know a lot of people around here are very excited about it.
