to speak in Carrollton
(June, 2002) CARROLLTON, Ky. Rodger Bingham, known
to his Survivor fans as Kentucky Joe, is scheduled
to serve as the featured speaker at this years fund-raising banquet
for the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.
The annual banquet is set for Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Gen. Butler State
Resort Park Convention Center in Carrollton and will include a silent
auction and question-and-answer time with Bingham.
Like his parents, grandparents and great-grandparents before him, Bingham
was born, raised and continues to make his home in Crittenden, Ky. Married
for more than 33 years to his wife, Patricia, his proudest accomplishment
is their daughter, Angela.
Bingham, 54, studied education at Eastern Kentucky University,
where he received a bachelors degree of science for industrial
education and a masters degree in education. In addition to teaching
industrial arts to students at Grant County High School, Bingham is
a part-time farmer and real estate investor. Previous occupations include
10 years as chief executive officer of a bank, owner of a lumber company
and owner of a hardware store.
A self-described workaholic, Bingham is also inventive, diligent and
able to adapt to different situations and personalities.
He is an elder at the Crittenden Christian Church and a member of the
local Sportsmen Club.
Bingham has made dozens of public appearances since his appearance on
the CBS series last fall. The third Survivor series ended
Sunday night, May 20, and a fourth will begin filming this summer in
Thailand, with its airing this fall.
Ticket prices and the time for the banquet have not yet been determined
by the chambers board of directors. More information will be available
at a later date, according to Greg Goff, chamber president.
