Beef O’ Brady’s seeks franchise
owner for new Madison restaurant

A franchise could costs an operator
as much as $600,000.

(December 2007) – Sports enthusiasts who love to gather after a game to rehash every move or fans interested in watching the “big one” will cheer heartily over the announcement that a sports pub and family restaurant chain has its eyes on Madison, Ind., as a possible franchise site.

Beef O’Brady’s Family Sports Pub, which combines the ideas of a neighborhood pub with a family-friendly atmosphere, has announced it is looking at Madison as a possible location for a new location.
Sarah Bechard, an executive assistant at Beef O’ Brady’s, confirmed that Madison’s demographics fit with what the company generally looks for in selecting franchise locations. “We look for things like population size, competition from other restaurants and community support,” said Bechard.
The restaurant corporation is seeking individuals or partnerships who want to work within the framework of company ideals about community involvement. “Beef O Brady’s way of life is the combination of family, community, business and values into a new way of life for every partner. It provides you the opportunity to be involved with your family while earning a living,” according to the company’s website.
Bechard said the corporation provides multifaceted support for franchise owners, including construction advice, employee training and ongoing marketing. “We can also help possible franchise owners find financial support.”
Starting a franchise, however, can be costly. Potential owners need to have $125,000 cash or cash equivalent to start, according to Bechard, plus a $250,000 net worth. Additional costs can run $375,000 to $600,000 to open a store.
“Some of those costs depend upon construction issues, including building sites and parking,” said Bechard.
There is also a $35,000 franchise fee and a grand opening fee. Ongoing marketing fees will run 1.5 percent of annual net sales, and royalty fees will cost 4 percent of sales.
While those figures may seem slightly daunting at first, there are Beef O’ Brady’s springing up all across the southeast. The nearest locations now are in La Grange, Ky., and two in eastern Louisville, just off the Gene Snyder Freeway on Brownsboro Rd., and another on Shelbyville Road in Middletown.
