This free event will be held at the Oldham County YMCA Soccer Complex,
20 Quality Place in Buckner.
Among the variety of activities offered include a free Family Zone with
face painting, crafts and an inflatable bouncy. Baptist Hospital Northeast,
which is sponsoring this event, will host a health fair with free health
screenings and a CPR class. Local businesses will conduct do-it-yourself
workshops on household improvement projects.
Outside the facility, weather permitting, a new car show will be held
and a hot air balloon will be on hand. Approximately 100 businesses
are expected to exhibit.
Friday, March 18 is a day for business representatives to network. At

Huntington Learning Center. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the Showcase
Kickoff Luncheon, sponsored by Norton Brownsboro Hospital, will be held.
It was merged with the Chambers Quarterly Dinner this year, instead
of having two separate events.
While a speaker has not yet been confirmed for the luncheon, we
will be hosting a new awards program this year, said Deana Epperly
Karem, Executive Director of Oldham Chamber & Economic Development.
The BEStIn Awards will be presented at the Showcase Kickoff Luncheon.
BEStIn stands for Businesses Executing Strategic Innovation.
These awards, sponsored by Republic Bank, are given in four areas of
recognition: BEStIn Power Player Male, BEStIn Power Player
Female, BEStIn Power Move, BEStIn Power Marketing Strategy. A large
number of applications were received for these awards.
The recipients were chosen by a selection committee
of business leaders basically a panel of their peers, said
Karem. The glass awards have a fire insignia inside that denotes the
fire that burns for success and the light for energy.
For a second year in a row, the Showcase will incorporate the Oldham
Icon competition into Saturdays lineup. Similar to a popular Fox
network TV show, the event is hosted by the Oldham County Chamber in
partnership with The Oldham Era.
Last years contest was extremely successful, Karem
said. More than 40 folks came out to audition, and 20 were selected
as finalists to compete at Showcase Oldham County. We estimate our crowd
grew by 1,000 visitors as a result of this feature.
The Oldham Icon contest is sponsored by Open Range Paintball and Sports
Complex, Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The grand
prize winner will receive a cash award of $350 and the second place
winner will receive $150.
