Thunder Over Louisville Air Show

The “Thunder Over Louisville”
air show kicks off all the fun.

Thursday, April 7
• McDonald’s Thunder Preview Party.
5-9 p.m. at Bowman Field, Central American Airways Hanger. Special preview of Thunder Over Louisville, family interactive area, plus pilot meet and greet. Children are invited to dress as their favorite superhero. Free with a Pegasus Pin or McDonald’s Thunder Funder cup.

Friday, April 15
• Derby Festival They’re off! Luncheon.
11:30 a.m. at the Galt House East Grand Ballroom. Tickets: $608 Table of 8 or $76 each. Guest Speaker: Sam Champion.
• The Fillies Derby Ball. Presented by LG&E at the Galt House East Grand Ballroom. Cocktails at 7 p.m. Doors open 7:30 p.m. Dinner 8:30 p.m. Queen’s Coronation 9:15 p.m. “The Paddock” area opens 9:30 p.m. Entertainment by Endless Summer. Tickets $175 each, Corporate Table of 8 is $1,700, Corporate Table of 10 is $2,050, includes appetizers, dinner and dancing. “The Paddock” tickets $70 each (includes appetizers, dessert and dancing). Saturday, April 16
• Opening Ceremonies for Thunder Over Louisville.
Downtown Louisville Riverfront, Waterfront Park, River Road and Southern Indiana shoreline. FoodFest begins at 11 a.m. Airshow at 3 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. www.ThunderOverLouisville.org.
• Thunder Chow Wagon at Waterfront Park. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin. Open 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. No tents, stakes, tape or pets. North Great Lawn Area opens at 9 a.m. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin. THUNDER V.I.P. tickets available for $150 each. Call (502) 584-FEST!
• Boomtown Presented by Tumbleweed Southwest Grill. 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.at Tumbleweed Southwest Grill on the Waterfront, 1201 River Rd. Outside activities include kids play area, food, beer garden, Thunder sound system and more! Free admission. (502) 618-8323 or visit: www.TumbleweedBoomtown.com.

Wednesday, April 20
• “Taste of Derby Festival.”
5:30-8:30 p.m. at Slugger Field. Tickets $75. All proceeds to benefit Dare to Care. Features exquisite fare from over 65 of Louisville’s finest restaurants and beverage companies. Bourbon tasting, bloody mary contest, wine tasting and a silent auction. (502) 966-3821.

Friday, April 22
• Basketball Classic Presented by PapaJohns.com.
7 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center. Tickets $16 reserved (includes facility fee). Tickets on sale now at all TicketMaster locations, www.ticketmaster.com or call 1-800- 745-3000 or the KFC Yum! Center box office at (502) 690-9090.

Saturday, April 23
• NPC Fitness and Physique Championship.
9:30 a.m. at Louisville Memorial Auditorium. A fitness, figure, swimwear and bodybuilding competition featuring amateurs and pro athletes from across the country. Pre-judging tickets $10, Finals tickets $25, V.I.P. Tickets $30. For tickets call (502) 387-3808 or www.Kentucky

Thursday, April 28 – Friday, May 6
• Kroger’s Fest-A-Ville on the Waterfront.
Open 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. weekdays; 7:30 a.m.- 11 p.m. Saturday; 1-11 p.m. Sunday at Waterfront Park. Featuring concerts with national talent, family fun, food, kids’ inflatable playground, midway rides and more. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.
• Derby Festival Chow Wagon. Open 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. weekdays; 7:30 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday; 1-11 p.m. Sunday at the waterfront. Outdoor food and live music venue.
Thursday, April 28 - Friday, April 29
• Running Wild Expo. Kentucky International Convention Center Hall 2C. Two-day Expo featuring exhibitors and packet pick-up for Derby Festival Marathon/miniMarathon.

Thursday, April 28 - Saturday, April 30
• U.S. Bank Great Balloonfest.
Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin. 5 p.m. on April 28 is the Great Balloon Tour at Indiana University Southeast. 8:30 p.m. is the Great Balloon Glimmer at the waterfront. 7 a.m. on April 29 is the Great Balloon Rush-Hour Race at Bowman Field. 9 p.m. is the Great Balloon Glow at Bowman Field. Gates open at 6 p.m. $5 parking fee (cash only). 7 a.m. on April 30 is the Great Balloon Race at Bowman Field.

Friday, April 29
• Movie Night on the Great Lawn.
9:15 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Featuring the movie “Twilight” on a giant 45-foot inflatable movie screen. Blankets and chairs are welcome. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Saturday, April 30
• Derby Festival Mini-Marathon Presented by Wal-Mart.
7:30 a.m. at Main Street near Slugger Field. Free for spectators. Entry fees and registration information at www.DerbyFestivalMarathon.com.
• Sonic Saturday Concert. Featuring Soul Asylum at 9 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Sunday, May 1
• Celebration Sunday.
With 88.5 WJIE. 1-11 p.m. Family activities. 5 p.m. Rush of Fools. 6 p.m. Downhere. 7 p.m. Building 429. At Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Christian contemporary concert. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Monday, May 2
• Stock Yards Bank Great Bed Races.
6 p.m. at the KFC Yum! Center. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin. $130 entry fee for team of 5.

Tuesday, May 3
• Derby Festival Run for the Rose’.
11:30 a.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront, Great Lawn. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.
• Republic Bank Parade Preview Party. Private group tours 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Open to public 5-9 p.m. at the Kentucky Exposition Center South Wing C. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin. $8 KEC parking fee. Floats, inflatables and equestrians for the Pegasus Parade on display. To schedule a private group tour call (502) 584-3378, ext. 823.
• Rhythmfest. Featuring the S.O.S. Band and The Dazz Band. 8 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Tuesday, May 3 – Wednesday, May 4
• Kentucky Proud Winefest.
Wine tasting sessions daily 5-9 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Tickets: $35, includes wine tastings, etched souvenir wine glass and WineFest pin. Tickets are available online at www.DerbyFestival.org.

Wednesday, May 4
• Great Steamboat Race Presented by Turner Construction Co.
4:45-5:40 p.m. boarding. 5:45 p.m. departure. Race begins at 6 p.m. Awards presentation immediately following at the Chow Wagon in Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville. Tickets on the Belle of Louisville $130 (limited availability). Tickets on the Belle of Cincinnati $75. For tickets call (502) 584-FEST. Free spectator viewing at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville and along the banks of the Ohio River.
• Wednesday Concert Featuring Todd Snider. 8 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Thursday, May 5
• Republic Bank Pegasus Parade.
5 p.m. heading west on Broadway from Campbell to Ninth Street. Bleacher tickets $9 and chair seating $11. Review stand seating $26. This annual spectacle of colorful floats, marching bands, giant inflatables and equestrians will be broadcast live on WAVE 3 TV.
• Tune It Up Concert. Featuring Cage the Elephant with Special Guest The Pass. 8 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Friday, May 6
• Derby Eve Jam.
Featuring Justin Moore with special guest Dustin Lynch, 8 p.m. at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the waterfront. Free with a 2011 Pegasus Pin.

Saturday, May 7
• 137th Running of the Kentucky Derby.
