LA GRANGE, Ky. (August 2013) – Lee Wade has been creating and sharing his art for more than 30 years.  After first receiving a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology & Graphics and an associate’s degree in Technical Illustration at Western Kentucky University, he then studied oil painting and color with Mary Louise Schrodt of Schrodt Art Studios in Louisville in the early 1980s.

He followed with a study of illustration and graphic design at the Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati.
“I have been illustrating in oil, gouache, ink, acrylic and airbrush since 1982,” he said.
For many years, he has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for several design studios and advertising agencies in Atlanta and Louisville.
In 1996, he started his own company, Wade Illustration & Design Inc., specializing in medical, technical and editorial illustrations as well as marketing and sales support including logo design, brochure and promotional material development. For three years, he worked with the Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville as a medical illustrator.
These days, Wade has been focusing on both human and equine medical illustration.
“As far as the fine art goes, I like to keep my subject matter fresh and change it up,” he said. “I don’t enjoy painting the same subject over and over and over. I probably jump around too much but it keeps the painting challenging and fun.”
Currently, Wade is going through a self-described “man cave” phase with paintings featuring cigars and bourbon. “It‘s nice painting things that I really enjoy,” he said.
Wade’s artwork will be on featured at Gallery 104 in La Grange during the month of August. Gallery 104 is owned and operated by the Arts Association of Oldham County. It is located at 104 E. Main St., La Grange.
