Winning artists in the Regional Fall Art Show received 25 ribbons and $4,500 in monetary awards for original artwork and photographs, with Best of Show receiving $1,000.

Seven of the 22 winning artists were from Madison, including the Best of Show and Reserve Best of Show, which was awarded to Bob Saueressig for his pastel painting titled “Figure Study #3.” Accepted media included drawing, painting, photography, 3-D sculpture and mixed-media, including collage and mosaic.
Other award categories included “Best of Media” (oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing, pastel, mixed-media, photography and 3-D) and “Best of” awards in genre categories of landscape, figurative, abstract & realism. Entries were not juried, which allowed artists of all skill and experience levels to exhibit and to be eligible for the awards.
Madison Art Club President and Fall Show Chair Mary Jo O’Connor kicked off the Awards Ceremony by thanking those who worked on the Committee: Co-Chair Tiffany Myers, a Hanover College senior who interned at the gallery for the summer; Teresa Waller, chair for sponsorships; Saueressig, chair of the judge selection; Linda Wood, chair of ribbons and awards; Dottie Shepherd, chair of installation; Belva Lowry and Wanda Jackson, co-chairs of the reception; and Wanda Benzing, reception catering. Alynn Ehlert provided musical entertainment at the reception.
O’Connor acknowledged the sponsors and advertisers whose financial support has kept the show going for 16 years. The general public chose the “Peoples Choice” award by popular vote that took place through Sept. 17. That award went to James Werline of Maysville, Ky., for his watercolor painting titled “Forged by Fire.” The public is invited to view the show entries.
All of the artwork is for sale. There is a special “Exhibiting Members” display in the front of the gallery, showcasing one piece of work created by each of the artists whose work is on the walls of the gallery throughout the year.
