Children are invited to throw on their pajamas and have a very merry Grinchy breakfast with the Grinch. As a kickoff to Light Up La Grange festivities, the Oldham County History Center will host Breakfast with the Grinch from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. It’s a perfect Who-liday themed experience for anyone who loves the Grinch.
For a minimal charge of $5 per person, guests can enjoy muffins, juice or coffee inside the Rob Morris Educational Building, 207 W. Jefferson St. The movie, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” will be playing along with additional Grinch-themed activities for children and Letters to Santa. Visitors are invited bring their cameras to take pictures with the Grinch.
A fictional character created by Dr. Seuss, the Grinch first appeared in the children’s book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Nine years later, in 1966, the popular story was adapted into a TV special with the same name. Even though he’s not the nicest person, the Grinch has gained many followers over the years.
If the Grinch is not your style, two adult wreath making workshops will be offered at the Oldham County History Center in December. There’s no need to buy a wreath or go to the florist when you can create your own.
The Oldham County History Center will play host to a Colonial Williamsburg Centerpiece Workshop from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Rob Morris Educational Building. Finished centerpieces will contain a glass hurricane (candles not supplied) surrounded by basic fresh materials. All materials will be provided. Cost is $15 for members of the Oldham County Historical Society and $20 for non-members.
The History Center staff will instruct attendees how to design and assemble wreaths that smell as good as they look.
On Saturday, Dec. 12, a Colonial Williamsburg Wreath Making Workshop will be held in the Rob Morris Educational Building from 1-3 p.m. Cost for the workshop is $25 per wreath for members, $30 for non-members. This fee covers the cost of supplies.
These workshops are suitable for beginners or seasoned wreath makers. Participants can enjoy light refreshments and make new friends while crafting a beautiful, fragrant centerpiece or wreath for their home.
Reservations are required for both workshops. Call (502) 222-0826.
