to perform

VEVAY, Ind. (August 2017) – The Swiss Wine Festival has announced its big name entertainment for the 2017 Swiss Wine Festival, scheduled for Aug. 24-27. The Charlie Daniels Band will perform on Friday, Aug. 25, and Sounds of Summer, a Beach Boys tribute band, will perform on Saturday, Aug. 26. Both shows are free with festival admission.
The headliner of the 2017 Swiss Wine Festival is The Charlie Daniels Band. Over the course of his career, Daniels has received numerous accolades, including his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame (2016), the Musicians Hall of Fame and becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He was presented the Pioneer Award by the Academy of Country Music and was honored as a BMI Icon in recognition of his songwriting. He also received a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.
His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Daniels recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records. Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band, and the group scored its first hit with the top 10 “Uneasy Rider.”

Charlie Daniels (center) has earned numerous awards over his long career, including his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame last year.

Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and, of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a  Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.
Daniels also lends his time and talent to numerous other charitable organizations,  including the Jason Foundation Golf Classic, an organization that targets teen suicide prevention, and the Galilean Children’s Home, which provides a home for abused and neglected children in Liberty, Ky.
“I’ve been affiliated with them for a long, long time, and it’s just a great place,” Daniels says of the home founded by Jerry and Sandy Tucker. “They take in babies whose mothers are going to prison. They give kids a good stable Christian home and love them. It’s just a wonderful place.”
Adding to Daniels’ exciting year, 3 Doors Down, Luke Bryan, Kid Rock, Chris Stapleton, Travis Tritt, Larry the Cable Guy and more joined him in celebration of his 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam on Nov. 30 at Bridgestone Arena. A portion of the proceeds from the sold out Volunteer Jam was donated to the The Journey Home Project.
Daniels says of using his celebrity status to aid worthy causes, “I have a very unique opportunity because of being in the music community; you try to give back to some extent. I do feel like people should. We should all do as much as we can.”
The Sounds of Summer, meanwhile, is Indiana’s own Beach Boys tribute band. Listen to more than 30 familiar hits and the story of America’s band-The Beach Boys. In just over a year’s time, Conner, David, Eric and Matt have sold out theaters, met members of The Beach Boys, and performed an hour long special on AXS TV’s “Worlds Greatest Tribute Bands’ broadcasted live from Hollywood, Calif.
Now in its 46th year, the Swiss Wine Festival – held in Switzerland County, Ind. – uniquely blends tradition and fun for the whole family. From opening day to closing time, the Swiss Wine Festival caters to all ages and interests.

In addition to musical guests and entertainment acts, the Swiss Wine Festival offers riverboat cruises on the scenic Ohio River, a wine tasting pavilion featuring Indiana wineries, a beer garden, and new this year – a craft beer and spirits area – along with the annual parade, fireworks, amusements rides, food and so much more.
