Madison Regatta Update
raises money for accident victims
(August 2011) A fundraising event organized
by Madison Regatta Inc. on July 30 attracted 475 people and raised $13,000
for injured victims of the Safety and Rescue team who were hurt July
3 during a Madison Regatta heat race, Regatta officials said.
The fundraiser was held at the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Station
and featured several bands playing throughout the evening. Proceeds
will be used to help Safety and Rescue team members Chris Cutshall,
31, of Madison, Angela Greenwell, 34 of Louisville and Michael Brand,
46, of Cincinnati. Both Angela Greenwell and Michael Brand attended
the event. Cutshall was unable to attend and remains under medical care
Local area musicians, The Jimmy Davis Band, Chuck Barnes, Mathew Barringer,
Power Plant, Shock Treatment, Deezel, and Rubber Revolver, provided
non-stop music entertainment at the fundraising event. Money was raised
through admission sales and throughout the night auction items were up
for bid, all donated by individuals and companies including a package
of Indianapolis Colts opening day tickets provided by Forrest Lucas.
A raffle was also held during the evening for an impressive list of
items donated specifically to provide additional proceeds.
I cannot not more pleased with the communitys response,
said Regatta President Crystal McHargue. I want to thank each
and every person who donated items, made cash donations, provided
services, volunteered, and attended our event. Given the economy, it
simply proves that when our community is asked to step up, they do so
in a big way because they care for and help those in need.
A fund for the victims has been established at Main Source Bank.
Donations can still be made to the Rescue and Recovery Relief Fund at
Main Source Bank or mailed to Madison Regatta Inc., P.O. Box 341, Madison,
